Chimbonda: Set for summer switch
Pascal Chimbonda has held discussions with Sunderland in regards to a potential transfer from Tottenham.
The French defender appears to no longer feature in the plans of Spurs boss Juande Ramos and has been allowed to explore other avenues.
He has been at White Hart Lane since making a controversial switch from Wigan in the summer of 2006.
He had been a regular member of the first-team squad since then, but saw his opportunities limited by the arrival of Scotland international Alan Hutton in January.
With Roy Keane keen to carry on the good work his Black Cats side put in last season the full-back would appear to be open to a switch to the ambitious North East outfit.
Should he agree to a move to the Stadium of Light he may find that a number of familiar faces are quick to join him.
Keane is believed to have also enquired as to the availability of Chimbonda's Spurs team-mates Steed Malbranque, Teemu Tainio and Younes Kaboul.
It remains to be seen how many of the quartet make the journey north, but Chimbonda looks set to lead the way.
His agent, Willie McKay, confirmed after the meeting that his client was in a positive mood following talks with Roy Keane.
"We've had talks and they have gone very well," he told skysports.com.
"Pascal was impressed with Roy Keane and what his plans are. He was also impressed by the players he is looking to bring in and where he wants to take Sunderland.
"We will wait and see what happens."
