Sunderland continued their preparations for the new season with a 1-1 draw against Vitoria Setubal in Portugal.

Roy Keane's side made the worst possible start at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira as they fell a goal behind in only the second minute.

Poor marking at an early corner allowed Bruno Moraes to volley beyond goalkeeper Darren Ward from close range.

The Black Cats were back on level terms moments before the interval when Graham Kavanagh's corner was not fully cleared and Kieran Richardson fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Keane then made seven changes at the break, with veteran Dwight Yorke one of the players introduced into the action.

But the former Manchester United star's evening did not last much longer as he sustained a head injury in a clash with Vitoria goalkeeper Nikola Milojevic and was replaced by Anthony Stokes in the 59th minute.

Both sides had chances in the closing stages with Stokes steering Daryl Murphy's flick on against the bar before Ward had to be alert in added time following an error by Ross Wallace.
