McCarthy happy with winger deal

Wolves boss moves for Edwards to compensate for injuries

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has expressed his delight at signing Carlos Edwards on loan.

Sunderland winger Edwards has joined Wolves for the next three months following injuries to Michael Kightly and Matty Jarvis.

Edwards has made just two appearances for Sunderland this season and Roy Keane had been keen for the wide man to secure regular first-team football.

He could make his debut for the Championship leaders against Swansea City on Saturday and McCarthy is happy to sign a player of the Trinidad & Tobago international's calibre.

Quality player

"I'm delighted we've managed to bring Carlos in," McCarthy told the club's official website.

"We've lost one winger long-term and another short-term, but have got a very good replacement.

"Carlos is a quality player who can operate on either wing and is someone we know a lot about.

"He was very impressive for Sunderland in the Championship and has also played a fair few games in the Premier League, so arrives here with a good pedigree."
