Vieira: Happy at Inter

Patrick Vieira has played down talk of a shock move to Sunderland by claiming he is happy with Serie A champions Inter Milan.

The former Arsenal captain, who spent nine seasons with The Gunners, had been linked with an unlikely move to the North East club.

When Black Cats boss Roy Keane was quizzed on whether the 32-year-old was on his shopping list he refused to rule out a move for the midfielder.

However, Vieira is happy at with Giuseppe Meazza outfit and is looking forward to a successful UEFA Champions League campaign with the Nerazzurri.

Exciting times

"We're progressing in the Champions League and the club is up at the top of the Italian league," he told Inside Sport. "It's an exciting time to be here.

"We're all focused on the task at Inter. The new manager has left us in no doubt about what he wants. He expects us to be just like him, 100 per cent on the job.

"He thinks that his relationship with the players is really important. He wants a bond based on trust. The character you see on the touchline is the same as the one in the dressing room.

"Winning the Champions League is the dream of everyone here. But Serie A has been falling behind the Premier League. We know if you want to win the European Cup, we are going to have to beat the top English clubs at some point."
