Davies admits Johnson concern

Derby manager Billy Davies has revealed that defender Michael Johnson's season could be over.

Johnson suffered a torn hamstring against Colchester earlier this month and was originally scheduled to be out for up to six weeks.

However, after further tests took place, the 33-year-old could have played his last game for The Rams this term.

"Jonno could be out longer than we originally thought, in fact he could be out until the end of the season," Davies said.

"He has definitely been ruled out of the Birmingham game and Paul Boertien will also be missing because he is still not right after a calf injury."

Derby travel to St Andrews to face Steve Bruce's side on Friday with top spot in the Championship at stake.

Stephen Pearson will also sit out that game, although Davies has received better news on the midfielder's bruised foot.

"Stephen Pearson has been for scans and thankfully there is nothing serious there, but we have got to get him pain-free yet and he is a week or two away from coming back," Davies added.
