Davies won't rush Pearson back

Derby County midfielder Stephen Pearson is nearing a return to action, although manager Billy Davies insists he will not be rushed.

Pearson has not featured for The Rams since picking up a foot injury against Sunderland in February.

The Scot is making steady progress following the injury and could make his comeback as early as this weekend against Barnsley.

However, Pearson will not be involved unless 100 per cent fit, with Davies (pictured) not wanting to risk further injury to the 24-year-old.

"Pearo is making good progress but we don't want to rush him back and end up losing him for five or six weeks," Davies told the club's official website.

"The timing of his re-introduction is very important.

"I would probably say that if he's not back this weekend at Barnsley, it will be the following week at Leicester City."
