Liam Dickinson has spoken of his delight after sealing a move from Stockport to Derby County.

The 22-year-old striker has signed a four-year deal with Paul Jewell's side after Derby concurred on a fee which could eventually net Stockport as much as £1million.

Derby had previously had an offer in the region of £250,000 rejected by Stockport, who won promotion to League One last season via the play-offs - with Dickinson scoring in the final against Rochdale at Wembley.

The move caps a meteoric rise to English football's second tier for Dickinson, who just two-and-a-half years ago was plying his trade in non-league football.

Derby delight

"It's a massive move for me considering two-and-a-half years ago I was playing non-league football for Woodley Sports," he told Sky Sports News.

"The point where I played at Wembley for Stockport was a dream come true and now to sign for a massive club like Derby County is just brilliant.

"I had a great season, I dug deep and helped them (Stockport) to promotion.

"It was always going to be hard to leave but when you get the chance to move to a massive club like Derby in the Championship - who'll be hoping to push for the Premiership - you can't say no.

"It's a wonderful opportunity for me and my family."
