Swansea have reiterated that Ferrie Bodde's absence from a pre-season trip to Sweden is due to family issues, and not the midfielder's desire to join Derby.

Derby have been rejected on three occasions when bidding for Bodde - who is keen to leave the Swans - and the Rams have now said they are looking elsewhere.

However, rumours linking Bodde with a move to Pride Park have continued and his failure to travel to Scandinavia only served to stoke speculation.

But Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins insists Bodde had the permission of manager Roberto Martinez to miss the start of the training camp.

Simple

"It is not at all significant that Ferrie hasn't travelled to Sweden," Jenkins told the Swansea Evening Post. "The truth is very simple on this one, he has got a few things to sort out with his kids.

"He has gone back to Holland to sort them out and he will be following the rest of the squad over to Sweden on Tuesday.

"This is something he agreed with Roberto and it has nothing to do with Derby or anyone else.

"Ferrie said there were a few issues he had to sort out and we were more than happy to help him. That's it."

Anderson replacement

Meanwhile, Jenkins has revealed that Martinez is eager to secure another Premier League loan signing to replace Paul Anderson.

The Liverpool winger rejected the chance to spend a second season at Liberty Stadium in favour of a move to Nottingham Forest, and the Swans have already been linked with Chelsea's Scott Sinclair.

"It's no secret that Roberto is looking for someone with pace to come in and play wide right," Jenkins added.

"We have lost Paul Anderson and Roberto wants somebody similar. If he could get somebody like Paul who would have the same sort of impact as he did we would be very happy."
