Derby County have shelved their plans to sign Ferrie Bodde after confirming they have no intention of increasing their offer for the Swansea midfielder.

The 26-year-old Dutchman is desperate for a move to Pride Park but Swansea are determined to resist any overtures from their Championship rivals.

Derby's bid of £1.5million, rising to £2million with add-ons, has been refused and Rams chairman Adam Pearson has conceded defeat in outlining his intent to pursue other targets.

"He (Bodde) is our first choice but we are not prepared to pay over the odds.

"We've got a couple of other targets we are looking at. They are two extremely experienced European players and we will turn our attention to them."
