Derby County have announced that midfielder John Oster has joined up with the side for pre-season training.

Oster, 29, is out of contract after he was not handed a new deal by his former club Reading at the end of last season.

The Welshman made 18 Premier League appearances for Reading last term, including a start in the 4-0 win over Derby on the final day of the 2007/08 campaign which ultimately resulted in The Royals' relegation.

Oster will now be looking to impress Derby manager Paul Jewell as he trains with the squad during their preparation for the new Championship term.
