A busy night of action on Tuesday brings a full programme of fixtures in the Championship.

The stand-out tie pitches league leaders Wolves against promotion-hopefuls Reading, with Mick McCarthy's side going in search of an eighth straight win.

Birmingham remain among the early pacesetters and face Derby in battle between two sides that tasted the pain of relegation last season.

High-flying Preston have stumbled of late, losing their last two, but play host to a Swansea side which has gone five games without a win.

Queens Park Rangers have also suffered back-to-back defeats of late and will be keen to return to winning ways when Blackpool arrive at Loftus Road.

Owen Coyle has led Burnley on an unbeaten run which has now stretched to six games and the Clarets will be in confident mood when free-falling Watford travel to Lancashire.

Plymouth have moved quietly into mid-table on the back of three consecutive victories, but may find the going tough at Ashton Gate against a solid Bristol City outfit.

Coventry are another side in fine form at present and they will be hoping to pile more misery on a Cardiff outfit yet to hit top gear.

The Keepmoat Stadium will play host to a tasty Yorkshire derby as Sheffield United make the short journey to Doncaster.

Sheffield Wednesday will be hoping to push their way into the play-off places when they entertain rock-bottom Nottingham Forest.

Ipswich are the division's draw specialists, taking a solitary point from each of their last three fixtures, but they play host to a struggling Barnsley side on Tuesday.

Crystal Palace continue to wallow towards the foot of the table and Neil Warnock will want to get the Eagles flying when they tackle a feisty South London derby against arch-rivals Charlton.

Meanwhile, Southampton secured a much-needed win over Doncaster on Saturday and will be looking to build on that success when Norwich head to the coast.
