Nigel Clough has confirmed that he would be interested in the vacant manager's position at Derby County.

The Burton Albion boss is the bookmakers' favourite to take over at Pride Park following the resignation of former chief Paul Jewell in December.

Chairman Adam Pearson has stated that Clough - whose father, Brian, guided the Rams to their first top-flight title in 1972 and a European Cup semi-final the following season, is on the club's radar.

And Clough, who has steered Burton to the summit of the Blue Square Premier, has now revealed that a move to Derby would appeal, but insists he has yet to be approached by the Championship strugglers.

When asked if the vacant hot-seat at Pride Park would be of interest, Clough said: "Yes, of course.

"To get an opportunity to move up the ladder, but it is just talking at the moment and we will see what comes of it."
