Derby County are confident of completing the signing of Exeter City full-back Dean Moxey within the next week.

Moxey is due to head to Pride Park on Monday for talks with Rams chairman Adam Pearson and manager Nigel Clough, and will also undergo a medical.

The Championship club agreed a fee with Exeter in the region of £300,000 earlier this month, but have had to wait for Moxey to return from holiday before opening discussions.

With negotiations planned for Monday, Pearson outlined his expectation that the left-back will shortly be added to Clough's squad for next season.

Pearson told the Express & Echo: "Dean is due to come up and talk to myself and the manager on Monday. I would say now within the next seven days we will be there or thereabouts (with his signing).

"Dean is going to be a really good player for us and is someone the manager and myself are delighted to be bringing to the club.

"He has got just the right attitude, is the right age and has the right potential and ability. He will give us real competition for Jay McEveley at left-back."
