Derby County striker Chris Porter is aiming to enjoy an injury-free period after scoring his first goal of the season.

Porter came off the bench to grab the winner at Watford at the weekend on only his second appearance since March.

The 26-year-old had been sidelined by a hip problem, but is now eager to repay Nigel Clough after being brought to Pride Park from Motherwell in January.

"I was Nigel Clough's first signing, but I have been a bit unlucky with injuries and not having that many games," said Porter.

"Hopefully, now I'm fit I'll get a lot more games under my belt.

"I just want to stay injury-free, then hopefully try to get a first-team place and then try to keep it."

Reflecting on his winner against Watford, Porter added: "I wasn't on long. I hadn't had that many touches, but I got an important one.

"It was a great ball in, it went just over a few bodies in front of me and it was perfect for me."
