Young trialist Jermaine Johnson is set to make his debut for Plymouth Argyle's reserve team after joining from Derby County.

The defender, who was on Chelsea's books as a schoolboy, has spent some time on loan at Stafford Rangers this season and has been given a trial to gain more experience.

Rangers appeared keen to keep Johnson for a longer spell; however the player's desire to play in the Football League was a major factor in his decision to return to Pride Park.

Johnson is still currently a Derby player after graduating from the Rams' youth academy and signing professional terms at the beginning of the season.

The 19-year-old will start in the centre of defence in Argyle's totesport.com Combination match against Forest Green Rovers at Tiverton Town's Ladysmith Ground.

He will be joined by the likes of club captain Romain Larrieu, Bradley Wright-Phillips and Yala Bolasie as they look to force their way into Argyle boss Paul Mariner's first team plans.
