Stoke City midfielder Michael Tonge is hoping he will be offered the opportunity to link up with Derby County again next season.

Tonge joined Derby on loan during the January transfer window and has scored twice in 18 appearances for the Championship club.

His future back at Stoke appears to be uncertain, with the 27-year-old having started only one Premier League game since his arrival from Sheffield United in 2008.

Rams boss Nigel Clough has talked about taking Tonge on loan again next season and the player is waiting to speak to Potters manager Tony Pulis about his future.

"I don't know what the future holds for me at the minute. I need to speak to Tony Pulis in the summer to see what he has to say," Tonge told the Derby Telegraph.

"But I've really enjoyed my time here at Derby - I really have.

"It's been fantastic and I'm thankful to the gaffer and everyone else for giving me the chance to come and play here.

"Hopefully, I will get the opportunity to play here again next season."
