Barker: New deal
Skysports.com understands Shaun Barker has signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract at Derby.
The 28-year-old only joined the Rams in July 2009, penning a three-year deal upon his arrival.
He has, however, been rewarded for a number of consistent displays with improved terms.
The versatile defender will now remain at Pride Park until at least the summer of 2014.
That should give him ample opportunity to pass a century of appearances for the club and build on a decent goal return for a defensively-minded operator.
Barker will also be hoping that his extended stay in the East Midlands sees him become a Premier League performer in the not too distant future, with Derby still well-placed among the Championship promotion pushers this season.
