Nolan: Uncertain future
Scunthorpe's on-loan defender Eddie Nolan has admitted his long-term future is up in the air after finding himself out of favour at Preston.
The Republic of Ireland international joined Preston in January 2009 after impressing while on loan, but has found his first-team chances restricted since Darren Ferguson took the reins in January.
Having spent the second half of last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, he was sent out to Glanford Park over the summer on an initial six-month deal.
He is now just waiting to see what will happen, telling skysports.com: "When Alan Irvine left Preston it was always going to be a case of the new manager coming in and looking to bring in his own players, which is why I followed Alan to Sheffield Wednesday for the second half of last season.
"I went back to Preston to see if my performances whilst on loan had changed his mind, but obviously they haven't and that is why I am out on loan at Scunthorpe now."
The loan deal was arranged with a view to a permanent deal in January, but Nolan insists he is not thinking about that option just yet.
"I'm just concentrating on the present really and doing well for Scunthorpe.
"They gave me the opportunity to come out and get some games and that is all I am focused on at the moment because otherwise I might still be at Preston having to make do with playing in the reserves every week.
"Whatever happens after my loan spell here ends is out of my hands at the moment, so we will have to wait and see what happens when the time comes."
