Devine: Jaw injury rules defender out
Rookie Preston defender Daniel Devine has been ruled out of action for up to four weeks after sustaining a broken jaw.
The full-back is out injured following an incident in Preston city centre last weekend.
The 18-year-old, who started in North End's last four games, is currently back home with his family in Northern Ireland as he recovers from the injury sustained just hours after the 1-0 home win over Exeter.
Boss Phil Brown said: "Unfortunately Daniel was involved in an incident in the city centre on Saturday night.
"The younger end of the squad went out for a celebratory drink and that resulted in Danny getting a broken jaw.
"I believe they were conducting themselves in the right manner but the city centre, at 2am in the morning, isn't the place to be. It is an unfortunate incident in Danny's career but it gives someone else an opportunity."
Devine was on stand-by for the Republic of Ireland's U21 double header against Hungary and Turkey, but will now also be unavailable for his country.
