Brown lauds Mellor after win

Preston manager Phil Brown insists striker Neil Mellor deserves all the credit for their 2-0 win over Notts County.
Goalkeeper Iain Turner's bizarre goal helped Preston defeat County but Brown has heaped praised on Mellor's performance.
After Brian McLean had put Brown's men ahead after 83 minutes, Turner sealed the win when his long clearance bounced over opposite number Stuart Nelson - who was under pressure from Mellor.
The win lifts Preston up to fourth in League One and, while unwilling to endorse Mellor's claims that he got the final touch, Brown admitted the former Liverpool striker was central to the club's third win on the spin.
"Mellor's trying to say he got a touch but what I will say about Neil Mellor was that his work-rate was phenomenal," said Brown. "He chased, he harried and he's desperate to get another goal.
"Neil takes a lot of credit for the goal because he put the centre-half under pressure which caused the keeper to come half and half and the ball sailed over his head. If he didn't get a touch, he didn't get a touch but he deserves a lot of credit."
