Preston goalkeeper Iain Turner has been encouraged by his side's start to the season after their 2-0 win over Notts County.

After Brian McLean had put Phil Brown's men ahead after 83 minutes, Turner sealed the win when his long clearance bounced over opposite number Stuart Nelson - who was under pressure from Neil Mellor.

The win lifts Preston up to fourth in League One and Turner was left delighted after the first goal of his career.

The Scot said: "I didn't know how to celebrate. I was looking to find Neil with my clearance as I could see him making his run.

"It was only when the boys started running back to me, I realised it was my goal.

"That's three straight clean sheets for us and it's a good sign for us."
