Roberts blasts Baggies boss

WEST BROM'S transfer-listed striker Jason Roberts has blasted boss Gary Megson for suggesting he would fake injury to get out of playing in a pre-season friendly.

Megson blasted his striker for refusing to come on as a substitute during a tour match in Denmark, saying that he was not up for the game due to his transfer request.

Roberts is furious that his professionalism has been called into question, and says that he was injured for the game and should never have been on the bench.

He says that he is being victimised because he has asked to leave The Baggies, and is upset at the way Megson has handled the situation.

"I'm very disappointed and upset. It's true I'm on the transfer list but I cannot accept anyone questioning my professionalism," said Roberts.

"We had a game on Monday and I was surprised I was on the bench because I tweaked my groin during the warm-up and was only 70 percent fit.

"But the manager implied I didn't fancy it and the injury was a smokescreen because I'm on the transfer list.

"That couldn't be further from the truth. He knew I was having treatment on the groin for three days before the game.

"I've made it clear I'll give 100 percent as long as I'm a West Brom player."
