Miller out to impress

Ishmael Miller is hoping to learn from the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and become one of the top strikers in the Premier League.

Miller joined West Brom on loan from Manchester City last summer before making the move permanent in January.

He helped the Baggies win promotion and is now aiming to take the top flight by storm.

Miller will line up against Adebayor when West Brom face Arsenal in their season opener on Saturday, and the 21-year-old hopes to be as successful as the Togolese forward in time.

"My decision to leave Manchester City last summer has paid off because I have got straight back into the Premiership at the first attempt," he said.

"I am a lot different as a player and a person now to how I was 12 months ago and hopefully I can show that.

"I like the way Adebayor plays. He is a great player with great strengths. There are a lot of players in the Premier League that you can take tips off and hopefully I will be able to become one of those top strikers."

Pressure

Kevin Phillips was West Brom's leading scorer last season but he has left the club this summer and Miller accepts that he and his fellow strikers now have to fill the void.

He admitted: "Kev is a great player and his departure puts more pressure on the rest of the strikers to score.

"It is a difficult task so we have to pull together and get the job done."

Miller is looking forward to the clash with Arsenal and remains confident that West Brom could spring a surprise against one of the favourites for the title.

"It is a great arena and I can't wait," he said.

"Players could become star-struck but it is football at the end of the day and 11 versus 11.

"Anything can happen and hopefully we can give it our all and get something out of the game.

"If I could score a goal at the Emirates it would top any other goal that I have scored."
