Tony Mowbray declared his delight with West Brom's first away victory of the season at Middlesbrough.

The victory is all the more sweet for local lad Mowbray who served Middlesbrough for over a decade, but although accepting Boro were the better team for long periods, he believes you make your own luck in football.

"If anything the result is a bit harsh on them, but that's football and we've played games this season where we have dominated games for long spells and come away with nothing," he told Sky Sports.

"Middlesbrough were charging at us in the last half hour but we're delighted we've won."

However West Brom's delight was tempered by an injury to Do-Heon Kim, who collapsed to the ground with no other player near in the first minute and had to be stretchered off.

"He needs to have a scan but we think it could at the least be his medial knee ligaments, which is six weeks out."

Whilst he did not wish to single out any one of his team he was quick to praise his defence, including goalscorer Jonas Olsson and goalkeeper Scott Carson: "They were all stars today but they had to be.

"Scott made some great saves. He's a big lad and he's agile and alert. He does the right things at the right time and I'm delighted he's between our sticks."
