Bednar: Home form is crucial
West Brom striker Roman Bednar believes that the club's home form could be crucial if the Baggies are to avoid the drop.
The Czech Republic international has scored in two successive home games in wins over Manchester City and Tottenham.
Despite the back-to-back home victories the Baggies remain rooted to the foot of the Premier League table as they saw their relegation rivals also pick up points.
The good news for Tony Mowbray's men is that their six-point haul from their last three games has left them just two points from safety.
Bednar has scored six times this season, comfortably making him the club's leading marksman, but the striker believes that the Baggies should be performing better in the league.
"Six goals is nice, but there might have and should have been more," Bednar told Pravo.
"I have had plenty of chances. I have not played in all the games, though, so it is not that bad. For me, it is the results for the team that is the most important thing.
"I believed we would be in a better position, so I am not satisfied."
The front man insists that if the team are to get out of trouble they will need to pick up points against those around them.
"If we manage to beat teams like Sunderland, Newcastle, and Wigan we will make that. We simply must keep winning at home and bring something from away fixtures. The bottom part of the table is very even."
The 25-year-old also knows that if his side are to survive then they will need to learn to hold onto a lead.
On more than one occasion this season the Baggies have let leads slip and until Bednar's 90th minute winner against Manchester City they nearly came unstuck again.
"There are rather a lot of examples, mainly in games which we were leading and eventually lost or after conceding a late goal we just drew," he added.
"I remember mainly games with Wigan, Blackburn and Portsmouth. We suffer from being newcomers now and then."
