Jonathan Greening has billed West Brom's game with fellow strugglers Stoke on Saturday as a must-win.

The Baggies remain rooted to the foot of the Premier League table with eight games remaining and are running out of time in their battle to beat the drop.

It is therefore imperative that they take points from the sides around them, starting with the Potters.

Greening accepts that West Brom face a tough task to maintain their top-flight status, regardless of the weekend result, but he is keen to see the club do their utmost during the run-in.

"It's a massive, massive game," the Baggies skipper told the Birmingham Mail.

"I know everyone says the next game is big but if we can put a good performance in and get the three points it will totally put the pressure on other teams, even Stoke again because they've had a good few results recently.

"It will show the rest of the teams we're not giving up without a fight and we'll go to the end.

"If we didn't beat Stoke it wouldn't mathematically put us down and take Stoke out of the equation - but then we'd probably have to win the games against Sunderland, Portsmouth and Blackburn and it would be difficult."

Hard work

Greening was part of the West Brom side that pulled off the Great Escape under Bryan Robson in 2005 and he is determined to ensure he enjoys similar success four years on.

"It will be one of the biggest games I've played in (against Stoke)," he added.

"The biggest was the Great Escape win over Portsmouth.

"We'll be working hard this week to get into a good position to face Stoke.

"We cross the white line and if we don't perform it's our fault.

"The attention to detail on the set-plays from Stoke is something we'll be working on 110 per cent."
