West Brom boss Roy Hodgson concedes his side lost to the better team in defeat to Swansea on Saturday.

The Baggies went down 3-0 at the Liberty Stadium, where the Swans cruised to victory with goals from Scott Sinclair, Leroy Lita and Nathan Dyer.

Hodgson was disappointed with the manner in which they conceded the second and third goals, but had no complaints about the penalty decision which led to the first.

And the former Liverpool boss was surprised by Swansea's diverse attacking options after quelling their wing-play, which he believed would be their biggest threat prior to kick-off.

"There's no question in my mind that they were the better side and deserved to win the game," Hodgson told Sky Sports following the loss.

"But I'm disappointed at the way we've lost it. We didn't expect to concede from a corner kick. We didn't expect to concede from a long goal-kick.

"We thought if we were to concede it would be through their wing-play but we actually dealt with that reasonably well.

"Overall, we didn't play very well and conceded two very poor goals in the first half but against a good Swansea team, to be fair."

The hosts raced into a two-goal lead early on and added the third on 49 minutes, effectively ending any chance of a West Brom comeback.

Hodgson added: "I was still hopeful that in the second-half we'd make a go of it but we shot ourselves in the foot by conceding the early third goal.

"We kept going to the end but it was always going to be an uphill task against a team that are very good at keeping the ball.

"We had a lot more control of the game in the second-half and certainly asked a lot more questions of them.

"But, unfortunately, we're the victims of this good [Swansea] performance."
