Kevin Doyle insists Wolves will go into this weekend's game with Manchester United confident of causing an upset.

The Irish striker was pleased with his side's showing in their last home game when they were unfortunate to go down to a 2-0 defeat against Chelsea.

Petr Cech was outstanding on the day to ensure Wolves drew a blank and Doyle believes a similar display against United could yield a more satisfactory result.

In what has been a strange season in many respects, Doyle is optimistic Wolves can become the latest side to pull off a shock victory against one of the top sides.

He said: "Every game is massive for us now in the fight for survival.

"The way the league is going this season, I would not write us off on Saturday.

"There have been plenty of surprise results.

"We have shown if we play well at home that we can get results against the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool.

"We know the situation we are in and everyone is on their toes and fighting for our Premier League lives.

"We could have easily got something from the Chelsea game, and if we can play like that against Manchester United, we can get something.

"If a little bit of luck turns our way, we can get some good results between now and the end of the season."

As the season reaches its climax Doyle has urged his team-mates to use United's hectic fixture schedule to their advantage.

Doyle added: "United have so many games and, no matter how good a player you are, with that amount of matches, it is difficult to do it week in and week out.

"I think that is why you have seen some of the results this season, with the top teams beaten.

"We have less games to play all season, so that is an advantage and hopefully that will show on Saturday."
