Rudi Skacel's agent has played down talk the Hearts winger is undertaking a medical with Southampton.

The Czech Republic midfielder has been heavily linked with the South Coast club this summer due to George Burley's presence at St Mary's.

It had been thought Skacel was nearing a switch to Southampton, but Viktor Kolar has stated his client is not with the Championship outfit.

Kolar has confirmed Skacel is in England, but he is simply in the capital visiting acquaintances and not holding transfer talks.

The 27-year-old has already concurred on terms with The Saints and while a fee has not been agreed Kolar expects progress to be made in the not too distant future.

"It's not true that Skacel is undertaking a medical in Southampton," explained Kolar to Idnes. "He is in London though, but is there visiting friends.

"We've agreed on Skacel's new contract, but firstly the talks between Hearts and Southampton must be done in the proper way.

"I expect things to progress in the near future."
