Beckford: Won promotion for Leeds
Leeds United have won promotion back to the Championship at the third time of asking while Gillingham have been relegated on the last day of the season.
Leeds recovered from Max Gradel's sending off and Darryl Duffy's opener to secure the win they needed against Bristol Rovers to clinch second place thanks to goals from Jonny Howson and Jermaine Beckford.
Millwall did all they could do to pile the pressure on Leeds with a 3-2 success over high-flying Swindon at The Den. Steve Morison helped himself to a brace in a thrilling clash in South East London.
Charlton were in second at one stage thanks to their 2-0 win over Oldham, but they ultimately missed out. Goals either side of half-time from Nicky Bailey and Miguel Angel Llera claimed the points but the play-offs now beckon.
Huddersfield had a remote chance to climbing into second, although a 2-1 defeat to Exeter, who secured their League One status in the process, curtailed their hopes. Ryan Harley's late goal settled the contest.
At the foot of the table Tranmere, Exeter and Hartlepool are safe while Gillingham have been relegated following a 3-0 defeat at Wycombe. Matt Phillips, Alan Bennett and Kevin Betsy all netted for The Chairboys.
Tranmere began the day in the bottom four, however, their fine 3-0 win at already-relegated Stockport means they have saved themselves. Joss Labadie's goal was the icing on the cake after goals from Ian Goodison and Ian Thomas-Moore.
Hartlepool would have been relegated instead of Gillingham had they conceded against Brentford, however, their defence held out and their goalless draw at Griffin Park means they are safe.
League One champions Norwich's season ended in defeat after going down 2-0 at home to Carlisle. Early goals from Gary Madine and Jason Price gave The Cumbrians a surprise success.
Southampton, who would have been in the play-offs without their 10-point deduction, came from a goal down to claim a 3-1 success over relegated Southend at St Mary's Stadium. Rickie Lambert bagged a brace for Alan Pardew's side.
Brighton got the better of Yeovil thanks to Elliott Bennett's winner while Kevin Lisbie's late successful penalty against Leyton Orient means Colchester ended their campaign on a winning note.
Walsall have leapfrogged Milton Keynes Dons in the League One table after battling from a goal down to claim a 2-1 win over Paul Ince's side. Daniel Powell gave the visitors a half-time lead, but goals from Matthew Richards and Emmanuele Smith gave The Saddlers the points.
