Jay Rodriguez insists he is fully committed to Burnley and was never distracted by Southampton's interest over the summer.

Saints made several failed bids for the striker, who hit his first league goals of the season in the midweek win over Nottingham Forest.

And Rodriguez claims he would never allow his focus to shift away from the Turf Moor outfit, regardless of any admiring glances from elsewhere.

"Nothing really affects me," he told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"I just concentrate on my football, working with the team and working up the league as a team. That's what I try to do and what I'll always try to do.

Work hard

"The club that I'm at, I work hard for the team and look forward to every game I play. That's the best thing to do, to play football, and that's all I want to do.

"Of course every player wants to win the league or get your team promoted.

"We need to work hard, there's plenty of hard teams in the league and we know that. We just need to keep at our game.

"I just want to try and enjoy my football and keep working hard, and see where it takes us."
