Stoke's promotion to the Premier League has seen Leeds pocket £200,000.

The Whites included a clause in outgoing striker Richard Cresswell's deal that they would be entitled to the cash should the front man help the Potters into the top flight.

Cresswell moved to the Britannia Stadium last summer, and bagged 11 goals in City's successful 2007/08 campaign.

Tony Pulis' side clinched their place among English football's elite with a 0-0 draw against Leicester on a thrilling final day in the Championship.

With Leeds hoping that they will be taking their place in the second tier next season, club chairman Ken Bates was delighted to have received a welcome financial boost.

"I'm pleased for Stoke and I wish them well," he told Yorkshire Radio.

"When they took Richard Cresswell we were on a bonus if they got promotion, so we're delighted."
