Stoke striker Dave Kitson has joined Championship outfit Middlesbrough on a two-month loan deal, as revealed by skysports.com on Monday.

He becomes the second forward to join Boro on a short-term basis since Gordon Strachan took the reins at the Riverside Stadium in October, following in the footsteps of Birmingham's Marcus Bent.

Kitson has managed two Premier League goals for the Potters this season, but is far from a first-team regular under Tony Pulis.

It has therefore been decided that the £5million signing would be better served spending some time away from the Britannia Stadium in order to get games under his belt.

Talent

Strachan is delighted to have further bolstered his attacking options with the capture and expects Kitson to be an astute addition to his squad.

"I'm delighted Dave is coming in to bolster the squad's numbers and give us more options," the Scottish coach told Boro's official website.

"I've been a fan of Dave's for a few years now. He is a good striker and another player for us to call on."

Kitson added: "I'm happy to be here and excited to be part of it. I'll do my best and hopefully that will be enough to keep the club in the top positions.

"I've not had a chance to see any of Middlesbrough's games but I know they've got some great talent in the squad, so I'm looking forward to it."
