Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws insists that none of his star performers will leave the club over the summer.

The Owls' highly-rated youngsters, such as Tommy Spurr and Lee Grant, have been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks after outstanding performances this season at Hillsborough.

However, Laws is confident that they will remain in the Championship and told skysports.com that ambitions are running high this summer.

Ambitions

He said: "The important thing for players that are at this club is that they want to remain at the club and every player who has been coming to the end of their deals have re-signed.

"Everyone can see the ambitions that the club hold and I feel the new signings have reflected that.

"There are also players who have a year left on their current deals that are hoping to extend their stay further, so it all bodes well for the future and shows how the players are progressing and wanting to stay at the football club."

Laws has been quick to bring in additions to his squad this summer, with Michael Gray, Tommy Miller and Darren Purse all moving to South Yorkshire.

Experience

And the Owls boss has indicated what type of player he would like to bring in before next season commences.

He said: "We definitely needed a boost in experience and quality because last season saw us have an average squad age of something like 22, so the new players we have added so far this summer have increased it a little to 26.

"It is still a young squad and the most important thing for us is to pick up the experienced players in the right positions.

"They need to supplement the young players here and we will be looking to bring in players which are in their early 20s and will give us a bit of quality going forward."
