Grant: Happy with Owls
Sheffield Wednesday keeper Lee Grant has given Owls fans a boost by declaring he wants to stay at Hillsborough, despite being linked with a summer move to Manchester City.
The former England U21 international had an impressive season between the sticks for the Owls last term and was also linked with a possible call-up to Fabio Capello's national side, but nothing materialised on that front.
This summer has seen the former Derby stopper again linked with a move away, with big spenders City mentioned as potential suitors, but Grant claims he has no desire to leave Wednesday.
"I don't really take too much notice of what is said in the papers to be honest and generally when you do hear these sorts of stories they tend to be wide of the mark," Grant told skysports.com.
"I take speculation with a pinch of salt really and hopefully the fans do so as well.
"It has been clear to see where my loyalty lies when I signed a new contract at the end of last season, so that signals my ambition to stay at this club and help them progress.
"Negotiations were done very quickly because there was no doubt in my mind where I wanted to play football and I'm just looking forward to getting next season started."
