Skysports.com understands West Brom and Bristol City are trying to hijack Burnley's bid for Sheffield Wednesday keeper Lee Grant.

Burnley finally agreed a fee with Wednesday for Grant over the weekend as Brian Laws looks to lure the highly-rated keeper to Turf Moor.

Wednesday are resigned to losing the 27-year-old following their relegation from the Championship last season.

However, they could have a bidding war for Grant with West Brom and Bristol City now entering the race for the former Derby man.

Both clubs are thought to have contacted Wednesday about the keeper and are ready to rival Burnley for Grant's signature.

West Brom have been targeting a new keeper all summer and they want to bring Grant to the Hawthorns to provide cover and competition for Scott Carson.

Bristol City boss Steve Coppell is also keen to bolster his goalkeeping options and he is an admirer of Grant.

Burnley remain in pole position to land Grant with the keeper set to hold talks and undergo a medical later this week as they are the only club to date to agree a fee with Wednesday.
