Purse seals Cardiff stay

Cardiff City captain Darren Purse has signed his new contract.

The Bluebirds have been locked in talks with the 30-year-old for a number of weeks and he has finally put pen-to-paper.

"I always wanted to sign a new contract to stay at Ninian Park," said Purse.

"I have loved playing for Cardiff and can honestly say the last two years have been the most enjoyable of my career.

"I'm glad everything has been sorted out and I'm looking forward to the new campaign as we aim to improve on last season."

Meanwhile, former Wolves goalkeeper Michael Oakes is set to link-up with Dave Jones once again.

Oakes has agreed a one-year deal with The Bluebirds and will put pen-to-paper in the next few days.
