Jones: Manager of the Month
Cardiff City boss Dave Jones has been named the Championship Manager of the Month for October.
The Bluebirds are currently sixth in the table after claiming three wins and two draws last month.
Jones beat Birmingham City's Alex McLeish, Derby County's Paul Jewell and Barnsley's Simon Davey to the accolade.
He told Sky Sports News: "It means that I am doing something right. It is a nice award and I appreciate it. But it is about what goes on at the club, it is not just me.
"I have a great bunch of lads here. They work their socks off. It is a pleasure to come into work. The ethos and the culture of the football club are getting stronger every day.
"We're just working hard to get out of this division. We are competing with many good sides and it is very difficult. We need to be a little bit patient."
On Thursday, the Bluebirds announced that striker Michael Chopra has joined the club on a two-month loan deal from Sunderland.
Of the deal, Jones added: "We've been working quite hard on it over the last two months really. It was a must to try and get someone in after we lost two of our strikers at the weekend.
"We'd like to think (we could sign him permanently) but Chopra wants to play in the Premier League, so we need to be in the situation where we can offer that to him. But Sunderland also must want to sell him."
