Gerrard: Cardiff target
Skysports.com understands that Cardiff are set to win the race for in-demand Walsall defender Anthony Gerrard.
The Saddlers announced earlier on Thursday that they had turned down an offer of £200,000 from Scunthorpe for the 22-year-old.
Cardiff now appear poised to beat their Championship rivals to Gerrard's signature after agreeing a fee with Walsall.
The Bluebirds are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season and are now holding talks with Gerrard over a possible deal.
Gerrard's future has been the subject of some speculation for some time, with Southampton failing in a bid to sign him last September.
He turned in a number of impressive displays last season as Walsall finished 13th in League One.

Swansea 3-2 Cardiff - Sousa & Pratley
Cardiff 2-0 Coventry - Jones & Coleman
Watford 0-4 Cardiff - Jones & Mackay
Jones - Ledley still focussed at Cardiff
Cardiff 0-1 Newcastle - Jones
Cardiff 0-1 Newcastle - Hughton
