Axed Reid fingers defenders

Axed Plymouth boss Peter Reid blamed poor defending for his side's eight-game losing streak after a 2-0 defeat at Southend.
The Shrimpers saw off crisis club Argyle thanks to a Liam Dickinson penalty and a header from Peter Gilbert in the second half of Saturday's League Two clash at Roots Hall - and Reid was then sacked by the Pilgrims on Sunday.
Reid said: "We have conceded two goals and you have to keep clean sheets if you are going to get anything from the game.
"It was bad defending and once they got the penalty we were always going to struggle.
"At the other end of the pitch we are struggling to score goals and as much as we huffed and puffed, it was never going to be.
"Before the penalty I was not too worried because I thought we were the better side in the first half, but you have to have the desire to get into goal-scoring positions and we did not do that."
