Sturrock: Slams Reid dismissal
Former Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock believes Peter Reid's sacking was "harsh", saying the manager was unlucky to be dismissed.
Sturrock, who spent six years at Home Park during two stints as manager, saw his Southend team defeat Plymouth 2-0 on Saturday, a game which turned out to be Reid's last in charge of the Pilgrims, and the Scotsman believes Reid was unlucky to be dismissed.
Sturrock told the Echo: "Peter put his own money into the club to help them and stayed there during circumstances which many other managers wouldn't have put up with.
"They said it was down to results, but I think that's quite harsh.
"It's strange timing too because they're not sure who is going to be owning the club and I would've thought it would've been better to have someone experienced in charge."
