Ameobi: During his time at Stoke
Championship outfit Ipswich Town have agreed a fee with Newcastle for striker Shola Ameobi.
The 26-year-old was at Portman Road on Monday to undergo a medical ahead of the proposed switch.
The Tractor Boys were granted permission to speak the former England U21 international last week, with discussions held over the weekend.
Ameobi is a product of the St James' Park youth academy and has made over 160 Premier League appearances for The Magpies.
However, he has fallen out of favour of late and spent the end of last season on loan at Stoke.
A proven goal scorer at the top level, Town boss Jim Magilton is delighted to have reached an agreement for the lofty forward.
"We have agreed a fee with Newcastle for Shola and he spent yesterday at the club having a medical," Magilton told the club's official website.
"We've had a good chat and things are moving on. He will be with us again today (Tuesday) and hopefully we can get it all tied up."
