American-born winger Devann Yao has signed for Ipswich Town until the end of the season after impressing on trial at Portman Road.

Yao has been with the Championship outfit since November and has recently returned to training after a month out with a shin injury.

The 19-year-old has been offered the chance to stake a claim for a more long-term deal and is hoping to break into Roy Keane's plans over the coming months.

"I've really enjoyed my time here and I'm very happy that I now have the chance to play for Ipswich," Yao told the club's official website.

"I'm here until the summer and hopefully in that time I can break into the first team.

"If I can play one or two games then that would mean I'm making progress.

"They have been really positive to me and now the challenge is to keep improving and try and win myself a new contract in the summer."
