Ipswich Town manager Roy Keane is hoping long-term injury victim Luciano Civelli will be fit for pre-season training.

The Argentinian winger has missed the whole of the current campaign with the knee injury sustained against Burnley last March.

Civelli returned to his homeland as part of his rehabilitation programme at the end of last year and Keane believes he is progressing well.

Keane does not envisage the 23-year-old featuring for Ipswich this term and hopes he will be fit and raring to go for pre-season this summer.

"Luca is coming on really well, the rehab is going well and being back in his own country is obviously helping," he told the club's official website.

"The plan is looking for a return pre-reason and for me it will be like having a new player in the squad."
