Ipswich Town have signed Republic of Ireland international Mark Kennedy from Championship rivals Cardiff.

The 34-year-old, who has moved to left-back after playing in a more attacking role earlier in his career, has agreed a two-year deal at Portman Road.

Kennedy's arrival sees him reunited with Town boss Roy Keane, with the pair having played together at international level on several occasions.

The former Liverpool and Manchester City player had been a regular with Cardiff and was a member of the side beaten by Blackpool in last season's play-off final.

Kennedy will now want to help Ipswich improve on a 15th-placed finish in 2009/10 as the club strives to return to the Premier League.
