Phillips: The striker will line up against Ipswich this weekend
Ipswich manager Paul Jewell has admitted he failed in an attempt to sign Kevin Phillips over the summer ahead of facing the now-Blackpool striker this weekend.
The 38-year-old has already bagged four goals in five league starts for his new employers since being released by Birmingham and he will pose a real threat.
But Jewell knows Phillips is not the only Seasiders player his side will need to guard against.
"They've got some really good players and Ian (Holloway, manager) has put together a good squad," he told Ipswich's official website.
"Even though they got relegated last year, I think they still came down with a lot of credit for the way they played.
"They've been brilliant since Ollie arrived and they've carried that good work on."
Regarding Phillips, Jewell added: "He's a terrific player, even now he's still performing and he's 38.
"We actually spoke about bringing him here but Blackpool seemed to tie that one up quite early.
"He's just a natural goalscorer and even though he's 38 he's still got a huge appetite for the game and is a terrific finisher."
