Dowie praise for strike duo

Coventry boss Iain Dowie was delighted with his strikers after Saturday's emphatic 4-1 win over Barnsley.

Dele Adebola and Michael Mifsud were both on the scoresheet at The Ricoh Arena as Coventry extended their unbeaten run to six games under Dowie.

The former Charlton boss was delighted with the input of his front-men and singled out Adebola for particular praise after his brace.

"I think Dele was almost unplayable," Dowie said.

"There is no question he is the strongest man in the world! You can't shift him and he's got a good touch.

"It was a very, very pleasing display. This was always going to be a difficult game and we had to make sure we started this game with a huge amount of respect for Barnsley.

"I have always said you play off your front men and it isn't being critical of Barnsley but they couldn't handle Dele and Michael.

"With [Michael] Doyle and [Stephen] Hughes we had people who gave good service and I think the second goal was pleasing as any we have scored in a footballing sense.

"I was very unhappy with the goal we conceded but that would be churlish because the lads have been outstanding in the last six games."

Tykes boss Simon Davey is refusing to let his head drop despite the Yorkshire side currently sitting just two points above the relegation zone.

"I think we were beaten on the day by a better team. I felt the lads looked tired and we never looked in the game in any department," said Davey.

"I am very confident we can beat the drop. There is a belief in the camp that we will stay in the Championship.

"No matter what set-backs we get and today is a set-back we still have the belief that we can go to any team and get a result."
