Coventry City are receiving high-calibre applications to replace Chris Coleman, according to chairman Ray Ranson.

The Sky Blues are on the lookout for a new manager after they parted company with Coleman seven days ago.

Former Standard Liege chief Laszlo Boloni emerged as an early frontrunner after expressing an interest in the position.

But Ranson had said all applicants have been "UK-based" - suggesting the Romanian's hopes of taking the Ricoh Arena hotseat have faded.

However, Ranson did admit that the early stages of appointing Coleman's successor were in motion, and that the standard of interested parties was high.

He told the club's official website: "I have spoken to a number of people but we are not going to rush into anything because this is a decision of vital importance to the club.

"The fact we have had so many managers interested in taking over - and the level of candidates - highlights the fact that the Coventry job is still highly sought-after.

"There has been a broad range of people in touch but they are all UK-based. There are some very good managers out there but, as I said before, we will not take this decision lightly or rush into anything.

"People can see what we are trying to achieve and trying to build. It's our aim to find the right person to take us to the next level."
