QPR v West Brom preview

Baggies aim to go up as champions

Last updated: 2nd May 2008

West Bromwich Albion aim to wrap up the Championship title with victory at Queens Park Rangers.

A draw at home to Southampton on Monday night all-but secured promotion for the Baggies, with only a miracle set of results capable of denying the club a return to the Premier League.

Tony Mowbray's sights are now firmly fixed on the title and West Brom need only to match Stoke's result against Leicester to finish top of the pile.

Baggies boss Mowbray has a near full-strength squad to choose from at Loftus Road, although the squad will pay a pre-game tribute to injured team-mate Felipe Teixeira.

Roman Bednar, who is expected to complete a permanent move to the Hawthorns in the summer, will require a hernia operation at the end of the season, but should feature against QPR.

QPR news

Luigi De Canio has lifted QPR away from trouble since taking over as manager and he may have one eye on next season and an anticipated bid to follow West Brom into the top flight.

The R's have three injury concerns for Sunday's game, with Akos Buzsaky, Patrick Agyemang and Fitz Hall at varying degress of fitness.

Hungarian midfielder Buzsaky is not likely to play due to a nagging ankle injury, while Agyemang must suffer no reaction in training from a hamstring problem.

Hall is expected to overcome a groin problem to start, but Rowan Vine is a long-term absentee with a broken leg.
