Kightly: At the double

Wolves marched to the top of the Championship with a 5-1 win over Nottingham Forest, while Birmingham were held to a 1-1 draw by Norwich.

Mick McCarthy's men ran riot at Molineux as first half goals from David Jones (14), Wes Morgan's own goal (29), Michael Kightly (43) and Chris Iwelumo (45) put Forest to the sword.

Forest pulled a goal back on 55 minutes when Richard Stearman put through his own net, but the impressive Kightly completed the rout with his second of the contest on 62 minutes.

Norwich ended Birmingham's 100 per cent start to the campaign with a 1-1 draw at Carrow Road.

Sebastian Larsson gave Birmingham the lead on 40 minutes, but Darel Russell's goal right after the break gave Norwich a point.

Barnsley piled the misery on Paul Jewell and Derby with a 2-0 win at Oakwell.

Second-half goals from Iain Hume (72) and Stephen Foster (83) gave Barnsley their first league win of the season and eased the pressure on manager Simon Davey.

Kevin Doyle scored his first goals of the season with a hat-trick to inspire Reading to a 4-2 win over Crystal Palace at the Madejski Stadium.

James Harper opened the scoring on 18 minutes, but Nick Carle's penalty (37) and Tom Soares (64) turned the game on its head.

Doyle (67,68) stunned Palace with two goals in a minute midway through the second half to put Reading in front and the Republic of Ireland international sealed his hat-trick a minute from time.

Burnley and Plymouth shared the spoils after a goalless draw at Turf Moor with Chris Eagles seeing red for the hosts late on for foul and abusive lanaguage.

Preston came from behind to beat Charlton 2-1 at Deepdale.

Second-half goals from Neil Mellor (58) and Barry Nicholson (66) helped cancel out Andy Gray's 19th minute penalty.

Steve Watson came off the bench to earn Sheffield Wednesday a 1-1 draw at Swansea.

The veteran found the net on 70 minutes to cancel out Ferrie Bodde's 36th minute opener for the hosts.

Doncaster secured their first win at the Keepmoat Stadium with a 1-0 victory over Coventry thanks to Richie Wellens' 31st minute strike.

Ten-man Queens Park Rangers picked up a 1-1 draw at Bristol City.

Dexter Blackstock gave QPR the lead on 18 minutes before Dele Adebola drew City level seven minutes later.

Loan star Emmanuel Ledesma was sent-off five minutes into the second half, but Rangers held on for a point.

Sheffield United missed the chance to close the gap on the leading pack after being held to a goalless draw at home to Cardiff.

Blackpool picked up their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory at Southampton, courtesy of Ben Burgess's penalty right on the stroke of half-time.

Burgess kept his cool from the spot sending Kelvin Davis the wrong way after Gary Taylor Fletcher was felled in the box.
